Brute de Force

Brute de Force is the alias of an American professional sports bettor and Olympic-style weightlifter.

Early life

He was raised in a Beverly Hills enclave by his mother, alongside a younger brother, after his parents divorced when he was a young child. His mother later remarried, and his relationship with his stepfather is described as openly hostile throughout his teens. By his own account, his maternal grandfather held the patent for an early sliding-glass-window mechanism in the early 1900s and built a multinational real estate firm that his mother subsequently inherited.

Shortly after his seventeenth birthday, Brute returned from a ski trip in the early hours of the morning to find his belongings packed in the foyer of his mother's house and was told to leave. He walked approximately two miles to a public park, slept on a bench, and the following morning bought a ticket to Las Vegas with fifteen thousand dollars he had saved. He lost the entire amount in a single sportsbook session before being flown back to Los Angeles by a childhood friend. He has subsequently described the night on the bench as the most personally clarifying event of his life.

Career

Brute has not held a conventional job since the age of seventeen. At eighteen he received a fifty-thousand-dollar commission for opening bank accounts on behalf of a national credit-card processor. He has spent approximately the past two decades operating a private sports-betting syndicate, working with partners, quantitative analysts, and overseas backers, and has stated that he wagers six-figure sums daily.

He has reported lifetime gambling losses in excess of sixty million dollars and has fully liquidated his personal capital on at least two separate occasions, each loss exceeding ten million dollars. He has cited a sixty-day stretch of consecutive losing trading days in mid-2022 as the most prolonged drawdown of his career.

Athletic practice

Brute is a self-taught Olympic-style weightlifter who learned the discipline by repeatedly filming and reviewing his own form. He has reported a snatch maximum of three hundred pounds and a power clean above three hundred pounds, claimed to be achieved without the use of performance-enhancing substances. He has described practicing forty-one consecutive failed attempts at the three-hundred-pound snatch before completing the lift on the forty-second.

Personal life

Brute is married and has at least one son, born in late 2020, and one daughter, born in 2024. Both children were delivered at home. The family lives in a residence directly on a lake.

He has followed a strict carnivore diet, consisting primarily of steak and animal fat, for approximately the past decade, and typically eats one meal per day. He is a heavy cigarette smoker and has reported peak consumption of two to three packs per day. He has not carried health insurance for approximately twenty years.

He bears a Leo-constellation tattoo on his arm, with playing cards in place of stars, accompanied by the William Blake line "I am myself. Myself alone." He stands approximately six feet one inch tall and weighs between 190 and 200 pounds. He has reported gradual hair-graying since the age of nineteen.
